Guest guest
Hi everyone, I'm Bel, Just joined and still in the process of having a diagnosis on my 3 yr old daughter Jemma, which I'm pretty sure will come back as her also having autism. It seems a little daunting at the moment but also would explain a few things she does!! Having my suspicions when she was 15mths old quashed, I havn't really looked into this further until this week when I had the speech therapist ask a few questions and knew exactly that she was refering to ASD. Before now I have been having behavioural problems with her, and not knowing 'why' she is upset or why she just 'ignores' me and what is triggering her outbursts, I still dont know what causes these things, but I'm feeling a little relieved and hopeful that i might be able to understand her a little more. Jem has an atrial septal defect of the heart, and also a form of cor triatriatum-extra membrane in her atrium and just diagnosed with alopecia but overall is a very healthy child and we are very lucky. I myself am working towards opening my own gymnastics club solely for children with special needs and I hope to learn all I can to be able to help my daughters development and the children I coach.
