Guest guest
As luck would have it, we had a visit today with 's pediatric otologist. had an ear infection 2 months ago, which turned into a yeast overgrowth in his (bad) ear from the antibiotics. It took us 1 1/2 months to get the whole thing under control. Then on Saturday, we noticed new discharge from 's ear. Discharge that doesn't respond to standard treatments for infections is one of the signs of cholesteatoma. The otologist agreed that there may be concern, and his office is arranging for a CT done under sedation at the local children's hospital. A CT scan or MRI are the only ways to confirm a cholesteatoma without surgery. We'll keep our fingers crossed that another course of ear drops is all will need!
