I have to brag had a wonderful evening with my son. Despite the traffic which was bumper to bumper and the slick roads with sirens due to accidents in every direction as I drove out to the theater out at the Rim (local theater), from getting out of the house, out to the parking lot, then entering the theater into a long line for the Premier movie of " Bedtime Stories " as one of my sister invited us to join them. Normally I would of said " no, thank you " , for some reason told her " yes " . Guess I was ready to conquer this challenge once again since his set backs health wise we were unable to attend theaters as he once did in the past which took some work and then regress. To observe this was another mission accomplished, he waited nicely without any meltdown moments, no stress at my end. Sometimes securities would offer for us to go in early but no special treatments needed and I did forget to take some of his GF/CF snacks but all was well. As we enter inside the screen room, just awesome he was just like everyone cooperated in a nice manner and sat pretty cooperative/ independently, all good sign, still no melt downs. He actually sat through the entire movie, very alert and even laughed on one occasion said " look " , to me to hear this was just incredible as he is nonvocal. I must say though I thought this movie was too cute, had me laughing too, actually able to sit through the entire movie and enjoy it,loving the moment as he did not have any meltdowns. Actually was able to tolerate his surroundings as he has been dx'd with severe sensory process disorder. I am still pinching myself we actually survived throughout the entire screening, we did not even have to wait until the credits was done as he once would have a fit. He got up when we all did and cooperated nicely out. It was such an incredible date to be with him as he held my arm watching over me. Plus he had also receive some compliments how well dressed he looked, such a GQ young men, he gave a little smile. All worth it with the alternative biomedical intervention he is under which could be time consuming learning anything involved here and to witness some social outing like this, just incredible that some of the behavioral issues decrease, do not want to jinx it as I just never know what kind of day I am going to tackle. Today, can be a struggle with some of his compulsiveness which has been a battle these past days but I'll take this excitement of the day for now. Guest guest
Thank you Holly, as you know there are those days like now what? Then when something like this happens it is such a relief to know I am on the track of understanding some of his groove. OMG! I just sneezed, not to sound gross but is sitting behind me watching the Iron Giant movie like about going on round 2 and just expressed a nice loud and clear " Bless you " . Just awesome. has really been expressing how much he enjoys Christmas.
