Guest guest
now 16 , did not start to exhibit any autistic behaviors until the age of 9. He went from an incredibly social ,typical, happy, DS child who was verbal, and still is verbal. He started by staring at his hands as if they were full of diamonds. followed by hand flapping. playing strangely with his toys lining them up, or spinning them. He was diagnoised with PDD (nos) at the age of 11. He has never thrown things or did the stop drop and roll that I hear about. He is still rather pleasant to be around, will give hugs and kisses. is very well behaved at malls and restaurants, no problem for long rides in car, as long as he has his CD player, he does make strange noises at times or repeats words that have nothing to do with whats going on around him. He prefers to be alone but can be taken out of " his world " pretty easily. Just thought I would share, Viola In a message dated 12/2/2008 6:39:09 P.M. That lasted from about age 3 until about age 18 or so. Now he is pleasant and fun to be around altho he can be extremely determined as well. Guest guest
Our son has changed and regressed starting at about age 3 1/2. He used to enjoy playing games with the family but now trying to get him to pass a ball or balloon is almost impossible and he used to sit and read books with us but now only looks at 2 pages and then throws the book. He also began to hate going anywhere when before he was so easygoing we used to joke about how great he was in a restaurant (HA that's a big nightmare now - we don't even try anymore). He also stopped trying to feed himself and stopped looking strangers in the eye. I sometimes forget the fun things we used to do and the socializing we could do before...it was sort of a gradual transition as everything became harder to manage and we got more tired. So - yes definitely a change. - Darwyn's mom Re: Welcome To: > Kayla didn't show signs of autism until 2 1/2 - 3. The was > diagnosed > with autism at age 3.
