Guest guest
Sounds like slow motility and perhaps a blockage. Low grade fever, projectile vomiting of undigested food and diarrhea from Miralax. Miralax will not clear a blockage in my experience. But I would hesitate to suggest something more cathartic - call that DOC and explain the symptoms. I cannot say anything about hiccups - there are sooooo many reasons for that and not hiccupping in sleep - no clue. You are now a week away from last visit. I would call first thing in the morning. Guest guest
I'd call tomorrow, . gets fecal impactions periodically. Often miralax does clear it, but sometimes he also needs an enema. The fact that Logan vomited food tells me, I think, that he is not completely blocked. just had a nasty GI illness and a fecal impaction at the same time, and all he could vomit was bile until the blockage was cleared. I would wonder if Logan's digesting properly, though, with the whole pieces. Not to be gross, but after the miralax, were his BMs diarrhea or did he have a nice wad? Diarrhea and soft stool can come around an impaction; if he has been impacted and it passed, then there would likely be a wad (like a how the heck did he pass that kind of wad). At least that's been our experience. Is he lethargic? When went into the hospital with this stuff a couple weeks ago it was kind of a no-brainer; he was vomiting bile every few minutes and looked very lethargic with a rapid heart beat and shortness of breath. If he has any of that, go to the ER, but if not, definitely at least call the GI tomorrow, and if you don't feel right about what they say, call your pediatrician's office. Always trust the Mommy gut. We are right far more than we're wrong. Beth GI help OK, GI gurus, I need your help!!! Logan has been having GI issues for a couple of weeks. We started him on Miralax about 3 weeks ago b/c of stool accidents at school - basically in an effort to change his schedule. Now he has had the hiccups for almost 2 weeks. We saw a new GI doc on (last) Thursday who increased his zantac and said to continue Miralax. Logan still has hiccups and after two days of no BM, I gave him an extra ½ capful of Miralax this morning. Bad idea. He had a BM before school, one at school/when I picked him up and another later at another DR. appt. Hiccups continued, then when I was laying down with him for bed, he started projectile vomiting. Guest guest
Thanks to all for the input. I am anxiously awaiting 8:00 to call the doctor. Beth – mashed potatoes since Miralax. Eew! And, yes, we don’t know if this is a true GI issue or a virus at this point. Either way, seeing whole food last night is enough to get me wired up as Logan had a pyloraplasty when he was 18 months old. This has been in the back of my mind with all of the hiccups, as well, as they can be a signal of reflux. I will let you all know what happens later. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of B DeHoff Sent: Wednesday, November 19, 2008 10:44 PM To: Subject: Re: GI help I'd call tomorrow, . gets fecal impactions periodically.
