Guest guest
I am glad things went well with p.t. I think we noticed a slight change the first week and by week 2 her head no longer leaned to the right at all. I do remember my daughter falling asleep the last 10 minutes of her first p.t. session :)One thing I did to help (actually I still do it is)I turn her head left and kiss her cheek to hold the position. She thinks I am just loving on her instead of exercising her neck. If you find little things like that it makes exercising them much easier. Guest guest
thank you for the tips my daughter really seems to like the extra loving kiss technique a lot. My pt also told me to give her a few strawberries on the tummy to help encourage her to contract her abd muscles so it will help make them stronger. She so far has been giving us exercises to encourage her to build up her muscles. > > > > > > > > > > Ok everyone > > > > > > > > > > We start physical therapy today any thoughts as to what I should watch out for or expect our first visit? > > > > > > > > > > How did your child react after the first days for weeks for all that matters. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
How old is your baby? Our p.t. said an exercise ball works really well to help strengthen there abs ,neck, and shoulders. All you really do is set them on the ball and bounce it slightly. mom of a beautiful banded baby girl:) > > > > > > > > > > > > Ok everyone > > > > > > > > > > > > We start physical therapy today any thoughts as to what I should watch out for or expect our first visit? > > > > > > > > > > > > How did your child react after the first days for weeks for all that matters. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
she is 4 months almost 5 months old...She has another apt with the pt today so we'll see what new tricks she has us doing today but so far from what daycare told me yesterday she manage to hold up her head for a pretty long time during tummy time. So I guess that's a pretty good start for only after one day of tummy time. jill > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Ok everyone > > > > > > > > > > > > > > We start physical therapy today any thoughts as to what I should watch out for or expect our first visit? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > How did your child react after the first days for weeks for all that matters. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
For several years now I have been troubled with increasing vertigo problems especially when driving over 25 mile trips. At age 75 it has been published that there is a 50% chance that this is caused by formation of inner ear crystals of Calcium Carbonate. Accordingly, I get relief when lying down on my right side. My doctor has prescribed Meclizine for occasional use. Also, he has me in a course of physical therapy treatments to strengthen my balance muscles and improve neural responses. I'm beginning to feel that this is a " beating a dead horse " situation and sometimes feel it is being aggravated by the PT. The strengthening exercises are mild and the balance training is very challenging for me. My question is, " Has anybody out there been doing the same thing for more than 2-3 dozen trips to the PT for that purpose? " If so, how far did you go with it and what were the results in your mind? I tend to be conservative with an open mind about things which means that I'll try anything reasonably put forth but will question the benefit versus damage issues. Guest guest
Hello Gretchen and all, My big problem is the vertigo. I had to give up flying years ago when it started. During episodes the nausea is followed by vomiting if the spell is severe and I " push " it too much. Often I use the Meclizine to make sure I can make an appearance commitment. I have used morning stretching sessions for years to loosen up and take nightly small doses of Gabapentin and Cyclobenzaprine HCL to prevent sleep spasms. Short or disturbed sleep makes the vertigo much more likely to be a problem the following day. I do occasionally fall down under adverse circumstances like bumping into something, catching a foot, or lose it on a slippery surface. When this happens, I often think of what to protect on the way down when the sense of time " slows down " . The vertigo relating to the PT is my current concern. PT for muscle or joint injuries, etc. is a given, but I am wondering if it will help with the vertigo or even perhaps make it worse. Guest guest
It has been a year a month since my last spinal cord surgery (lumbar) and I do aquatic therapy. It seems to help much more than standard physical therapy. > > Has anyone tried Physical Therapy a year after surgery on the lumbar spine? I am still having a lot of pain in my back and right leg and foot, and my doctor wants me to go to Physical Therapy. I thought that I would have been send after about a month or so after the surgery, but all he wanted me to do was walk, which I do. > > He had intended to do another surgery, but after taking a complete MRI of my spine, said that all my disk was gone and that I have stenosis of the spine, he can no longer help me, and he dismissed me except the PT. > > slowpoke60 >
Guest guest
My ortho surgeon has been very honest about it being extremely rough surgery, a rough recovery, and not a lot of guarantees, so believe me, it's not on my " to do " list as long as I can still walk. In a message dated 7/17/2010 11:56:05 A.M. Eastern Daylight Time, kittywagon98@... writes: I don't know if I would have the surgery done or not now since I know the outcome. I am not any better off with the surgery, in fact, it is worst. After almost a year the pain is not any better and I still can't ride in my car very far without hurting really bad. Going shopping is just about out. So really think long and hard about having fusion done on your back. Like my general physician told me, You hurt before and you will still hurt after. He was right!.
