He was an absolute dear, > >and had no patient complaints, but lost his license all the same. > > For using amour thyroid??!! Yes. And that was ALL he lost his license for! Armour thyroid is under attack, esp. in Colorado. Lots of docs running scared. The doc that lost his license was not in a group of docs. Immediately after this happened docs ran to form groups to protect themselves. My poor doc lost everything. He was near retirement and him and his wife lost their home, all their savings and retirement and are living on charity now. Its a tragic story. They had tons of studies to support their position and all those that got to hear the hearings (including the lawyers) thought they would win, but the medical board of Colorado still took away his license. They did say that he could continue to practice medicine if he never prescribed Armour thyroid again!!! He refused. Thought they would win on the overwhelming evidence but lost. We definitely have a medical dictatorship in Colorado! > I've been on this for years!! I don't think the govt will move to actually make Armour illegal, they will just persecute docs who prescribe one by one and effectively remove it from use. > This is too > much. PLEASE try to get 2nd opinion. Oh, I hate to count up all the docs I've been to that have refused this testing. I basically gave up until about a month ago when I heard about a rheum in Denver that uses long term ABX and alpha interferon. My hope is that if he is open enought to do these therapies, he will be open to other things, like testing me for other autoantibodies and maybe hypercoag, as well. My appt is on Oct 13, so will be interesting to see what happens. > >That used to happen to me until I got on Armour thyroid. Guest guest
Carolyn You are so lucky to have such great doctor's. My LLMD also knows what is going on and believes in treating the patient, but I can tell he is a little apprehensive. But still he treats me according to what he thinks I need. I too am lucky to have him. He signed my petition and the office offered to keep it and get other patients to sign it. Really it can cover more than just what is happening with Lyme Disease. It really says, let the doctor's treat and not the insurance companies. Thanks for all your kind words and support. Carolyn, the only reason I thought there might be anger, is because so many Lyme patients get misdiagnosed with Fibromyalgia, when in fact Lyme Disease can cause FM. FM isn't really a disease but a collection of symtpoms and only makes treating Lyme Disease all that much harder. But as long as your LLMD still treats the LD and FM simultaneously, that's good. Just so many doctor's write all the symptoms off to FM and forget the LD, and that angers people. And I don't blame them. I just hope and pray everyone has good doctor's like ours. Unforunately, not everyone does. EVERYONE, Have calm, unpainful, and healthy holidays! I have so much to do, that I'm not going to be checking my mail as often. But if anyone needs something they think I can help with, just mark the message Urgent and I'll get it. Take care all Vicki, Md >From: skidrowe@... > >Vicki F, > >Thank you for your wise words today. There is no anger, why should >there be?! ..... >Anyway, my visit to the doc today. This is a woman who had only dealt >with early stage lyme patients (I don't know how many). I am her first >chronic case. .... >Anyway, I took a copy of Barbara's post with me for her use and she >scanned it and said that it was basically what she found out in HER OWN >RESEARCH!!!! This woman has been studying for ME!! > >What a woman this doctor is! My God!!! The tears are flowing!!! She's already >starting to sound like an expert. .... Her priorities lie where a doctor's should... >with their patient! >
Guest guest
Hi Peggy Great idea. Of all the many doctors I have seen over the years I would only recommend one to the list. The list could save people so much heartache and frustration by going straight to the best in their area. Guest guest
I just returned from a great experience with my primary care Physician. His name is Dr. Naheem Tahir-kheli, with the Family Medical Clinic at San Joaquin General Hospital. He currently does not much about CMT, but he is willing to learn and his bedside manner is wonderful. If we help educate the medical community about CMT, then they will be better able to help us. Please contribute your " good " doctor stories. Nina in Stockton
Guest guest
The first time I visited my internist (about 3 years ago) I told her that I had CMT. She was honest with me about not having heard of it before but she was genuinely interested in hearing more about it. Betwen my first and second visits she had done a lot of research on CMT, printed it out and put it in my chart. > > I just returned from a great experience with my primary care Physician. Guest guest
My son's pediatrician is wonderful. He is actually familiar with CMT and caught it right away when we brought in for a physical and asked him about his feet. He has been wonderful meeting with me and answering questions, getting me doctors reports from the specialists and recommending who to go and see for different related things.
