Guest guest
I could understand disinfecting the seeds but once they sprout and you have shoots, why would you again soak them or put anything on them? I don't know a lot about sprouts but I don't soak mine other than to wash them a bit and then to dry or spin them dry. I don't put anything on them or soak them at all. Just rinse them. Carolyn Wilkerson  ________________________________ To: sproutpeople Sent: Wednesday, June 20, 2012 2:32 AM Subject: Brown shriveled ends after sprouting  I sprouted a mixture of legumes and they sprouted beautifully. I soaked them in a mixture of water, ACV, and H2O2 for 10 minutes to disinfect and set them to dry. After that i stored them in a mason jar in the fridge. 24 hours later, the ends of the sprouts are shriveled and brown. Anyone have any idea what it could be? Could the ethylene gas being trapped by the mason jar cause that in such a short period of time?
Guest guest
I have never soaked sprouts (once they begin sprouting and I'm done sprouting I mean) in my entire life. I do the final rinse, put them in my electric salad spinner, spin they as dry as they can be, THEN I store them in containers or whatever I store them in, in my fridge. I have NEVER had any sprouts turn brown, get moldy, or anything like that. But then I don't soak them after they have sprouted. I never heard of this. What is the purpose of soaking a sprout after they have sprouted? Melody > > I sprouted a mixture of legumes and they sprouted beautifully. Guest guest
Well i was reading stories about the growing environment being the perfect conditions for proliferating some pretty nasty bacterial strains which is why i disinfected the sprouts after sprouting. To dry i spin them around in a loose mesh nylon nut milk bag and let them hang dry in it on a hanger. > > > > Carolyn Wilkerson > > > > > >  > > > > > > ________________________________ > > From: " danaezenor@ " <danaezenor@> > > To: sproutpeople > > Sent: Wednesday, June 20, 2012 2:32 AM > > Subject: Brown shriveled ends after sprouting > > > > > > > >  > > > > I sprouted a mixture of legumes and they sprouted beautifully.
