Guest guest
I need to take exception to one phrase you used re your son . He DID NOT REBEL> His schedule was changed without notice - he was sandbagged. If a person who understood Functional Behavior Analysis had seen your son at the time, he/she would have been able to see that the antecedent to your son's behavior was the absence of his customary support team without notice, thus his behavior was a re-action and not an action. Thus the consequence would have been - and needs to be- re-establishment of his accustomed support team - not " punishment " !!! how many of us can say " School Failure " to provide FAPE with a BIP. > I am so sorry, , to hear of that awful call. People often don't > understand how devastating change is to our kids and how deep their love is > for their regular teachers/caregivers. It's the double whammy of ASD/DS and > your son's situation illustrates that perfectly. Maybe if you could explain > this to them they would have a little sympathy. > > Let us know how it goes. > > Beth, mom to , age 8, DS/ASD/leukemia survivor > > What to do.... > > I have posted too much to now ask for help/support from the listmembers. > I pray for all the parents and their kids. My son's teacher was > absent today and he rebelled against the sub., in short I have to fly > to Calif. ASAP if I can't get this straightened out by phone. I can't > even type this up. It's too much. I'm very sorry to those that have > been offended by the queries I asked. It has now came back to me full > force and it is not me that is suffering - it's my son. > > >
