Guest guest
This treatment goes on in The Challenger School for Disabled Children in , Florida their are also restraints and cement 6 by 6 cells used as time out rooms. They call it Behavior Management ,I made several complaints and phone calls several years ago and was told they were retraining the staff. That did happen but after the air cleared this school went right back to their old ways. Many parents do not know this goes on. As far as I am concerned these habits should be outlawed federally and offenders jailed. This school is suppose to be an upscale school for our kids. Its sick!! I know that when I originally asked a few weeks ago about these kindof injustices towards our children it was hard for many to respond asit brought back old memories. It was easy for the child that is nolonger here to respond - he ended his life. This is not something I'want to' post about or wanted to even look at. After receivingseveral hundred responses from parents about this going on at theirschools ( I have them and they keep pouring in ), I then addedMandatory Jail Sentences for those that put our children into thiskind of Jeopardy into the Autism Reform Act of 2009. Guest guest
If more then .01 yes thats 1/10th of a percent of the parents of Children in Special Education for ASD's alone (560,000 of them) would cast a vote even on this site, it will gain national attention before the Reform Act - Which Covers ALL Children in Special Ed., we could outlaw this with a sign of a big pen in D.C. - it will happen..I'm asking you to back this for the kids, the request will not be signed only by me, in the final round (which we are only 17 votes away from being in) we shall have the next 'Draft' ready for parental signature - along with that will be the 100's of offlist emails..and the ones onlist that parents agree to give information about...I hope all know I was never wanting parents names or names of students as I am very aware of FERPA and as well would never want to see retaliation against our kids. We haven't even acted and they have done what we saw on CNN and what I've seen in person - its not pretty..so I urge every parent to vote on this and make it the #1 'idea' out of all of them.. many others including the medicaid waiver funding are also great ideas. Please vote and have your fiends, family, etc. vote too...nobody knows who will be next in line for this kind of treatment - so lets ban it NOW. The transition team is aware of the CNN report and I've asked them to watch the 300 plus comments on the 'change' site as well - which they are doing. We MUST band together in one accord and make this an agreement between all of us.. We can only make change if we voice ourself in a concise manner - we are a large Lobby..we have yet to prove that and need to. Please read this, give input, and vote accordingly if you would like this to STOP and be punishable by possibly a Felony depending on the circumstance. With a great feeling of loss I write this.. Humbly, E. Sr. Vote at: http://www.change.org/ideas/view/accept_and_sign_the_autism_reform_act_of_2009 Thank you to all that are concerned and a special thanks to the moderators and Joan - you let me be heard and now we know why. This is a hard subject and I understand very personally how it can make one feel.. so please don't disregard this plea for your backing..to back the kids.
