When I was 15 (now 43) I had a tendon transfer and a bone fusion on my right

foot. My foot really curved in and severe foot drop. After 4 months of casts and

grueling physical therapy I was AFO free on the right foot.

I have had it done. Love the results. I also had fusion done at the same

time so I am not sure how fast the recovery would have been with just TT.

Worth it!

Funny you should ask. Sept. 29th I'm due in for a major tenton tranfer on my

left foot. I had the right done 17 years ago and it was the best thing I ever

did. However I am 15 years older now and a bit concerned of muscle recovery.

Their telling me 7 weeks non weight bearing & 7 weeks gradual weight with

physical therapy.

I was going to do a daily post on this sight with the progress & everything I

was going through so that people that were thinking of doing it could get a

first hand view of the experience.

I must say that the closer the date gets, the more nervous I become. I do

remeber the long recovery time. My surgeon is Dr. Sigvard Hanson, he pretty

much said that if I don't do it now (I'm 42) I probably should not be doing it.

So, it's either now, or walk on the side of my foot at 60 and wonder why I

didn't give up 14 weeks of my life at 42.

He did my right foot also. He's pretty awesome.

Anyway Irish, good luck, maybe we can keep in touch and go through our first 2

weeks of misery together :)
