Guest guest
Holli, congrats on joining the water exercise class at the Y. I've never joined them, fearing I'd hurt myself trying to keep up. I know what you mean about the 'deep down middle-of-the bone intense ache " . I feel it too sometimes, and that's just donig the same water exercise I've done 3x a week for a couple years now. I describe it as " it hurts to move " . I aqua jog in the deep water, with a little bit of swimming. If I do too much upper body stuff my hands go numb, so I take it pretty gentle. RE: the lower back pain. I would also get that until I learned that if I tighten my tummy during the work out, it improves my posture and takes the stress off my lower back. O exercize question I'm wondering if the rest of you have similar issues with excersize and how you handle it. I can't do a lot of the conventional excersize without either falling down or injuring myself - including PT. I have seen a lot of posts about water excersize - Gretchen, you've mentioned it lots. So last week, I joined my local YMCA and took a water aerobics class for seniors (which made me feel a little silly as I'm 46). I was pleasantly surprised to find that I got a pretty serious workout without feeling uncomfortable or in pain. I was able to keep up but didn't have to slow the pace so much that it did nothing. I felt invigorated and energetic when I left and slept great that night. In the last 4 days since I have had a deep down middle-of-the-bone intense ache in my arms, legs and lower back. I resorted to taking a Percocet to sleep night before last. I can't figure out why I should feel so good in the short term and so awful for days after. I do not take any meds other than the almost constant re-dosing of Naproxen/aspirin/ibuprofen/Tylenol -- whichever is handy at the moment. I wonder if any of you have advice. Is it time to start on some of the meds perscribed for CMT? I need to loose weight and I need to be able to excersize or it's not happening. I have a very efficient constitution that can create extra pounds from water! (or so it seems) Holli
