Guest guest
OK, I have had a charcot foot and I found that Wiki link hard to understand. I googled Charcot Jont and really didn't like any of the explanations, but if you look at them as a whole, you get an idea of what the issue is about. It's basically a joint that no longer receives nerve impulses and starts to break down. For Charcot foot: http://www.foothealthfacts.org/footankleinfo/charcot-foot.htm A charcot joint is caused by a degenerative neuropathic condition. For most of the population, that means diabetes. For us CMTers, it means our CMT. At age 50, after about five years of asking " what's wrong with my foot? " I was diagnosed with a charcot foot. An ortho surgeon lookng at that foot made a visual diagnosis of CMT based on my other foot, a classic high arch with hammer toes. I googled CMT and read the list of symptoms, and it was like a check list of anomolies for me. An EMG later confirmed the diagnosis. O Charcot Joint is NOT CMT disease Just to clarify, Charcot Joint is NOT CMT disease. Guest guest
, a diagnosis of a Charcot joint 20 yrs ago was in fact what finally got my disorder diagnosed. In my case it was a " bubble " full of yellowish fluid, for lack of a better word the size of a golf ball on my left ankle. After that I got to see a neurologist and got the ball rolling as to overall dagnosis. Take good care, Mark ________________________________ From: Oltmann <joltman1@...> Sent: Fri, August 20, 2010 5:22:27 PM Subject: Re: Charcot Joint is NOT CMT disease  OK, I have had a charcot foot and I found that Wiki link hard to understand.
