Guest guest
I feel as we all try to dialogue about our experiences with CMT that it is helpful to remember that all we can really speak to from a position of authority is what we have experienced and to tell those stories and leave it to others to draw their own conclusions if there is anything that might be helpful for their own circumstances. It becomes damaging when we start telling people what they should or should not do. It's okay, I think, for me to encourage others to give a wheelchair a try out of a desire for others to experience freedom and ease, but it would be very wrong of me to say, " you should do this because it's been this way for me it must be the right way for you. " I also, want to say to the parents who have been writing on this thread that you have my admiration for your desire to seek the best solutions for your children physically, socially, and emotionally. Only you are in positions to know if AFOs or scooters or wheelchairs or playing sports or not playing sports or... are best for your kids. And, you are probably gonna make some mistakes along the way, and that's okay. These are complex issues and a choice might be good in one facet and not so good in another. It's about finding what best works for you, your child, and your family. Peace to all, Lynna > > > > > > > > >
