Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Just wanted to say that I am in the process of breaking in a pair of SAFOs -- from Dorset Orthotics -- I had the good fortune to be in England from the USA for family reasons.. -- I have CMT1A -- with mild/mod foot drop, am very active, 50 years old .....and after 5 days I really like them a lot already...not nearly as rigid or cumbersome as other recent technology AFOs and allow for more leg range of motion (had 'toe-offs' -- too restrictive for me -- but I used them for 3 years -- then Alimed Freedom Soft Braces for the last year but they were not quite enough) ... In the US, quotes were around $5,000 (+) but they appear to be lasting patients 4 -5 years so they work out in the end -- but insurance does not seem to cover as too new technology. If anyone has possibilities to go/be in England, they are a good bit less costly to purchase there - but you need to be there 3 wks. Just wanted to share my impression on SAFOs -- there are archive files -- Sam
