Guest guest
As you know CMT Awareness Week, September 19-26, 2010. Support and Action Groups everywhere are being equipped with press releases, posters, activity-planning assistance, and more. I uploaded both the English and Spanish versions of the poster to our Files if you wish to download or just look at it. Posters are stunning and were specially created by Andy Kocher Designs. Andy is a personal friend (no CMT, but supports our cause) and graduate of the Art Institute of San Francisco. Not only has Shadoe s agreed to be the voice of the CMTA for awareness week equally as exciting, Clear Channel, who owns over 850 radio stations nationwide, will also be involved. See http://www.clearchannel.com/ Awareness Week is only a month away, anyone who wishes can help raise CMT Awareness during this week. By Labor Day weekend, posters, brochures, magnets, buttons, balloons, glow star necklaces, etc. will be available to hand out at any events or locations. Some of the easy event ideas floating around are: -having a " Walk and Talk " at a shopping center -passing out brochures at a farmers market, physician offices, libraries… -posting flyers all around your town -coffee hour at your local Starbuck's-send off CMTA balloons! -using Facebook/Twitter as methods to spread awareness I've planned 2 wine tastings and a Winter Fashion Preview so far. Easy participation for you: The Mosaic and Video 1. The CMTA is looking for pictures of people with CMT to put on their website as a Mosaic. The theme is: I am ..................We are the CMTA. So send a picture of you and along with the picture, and send a descriptive sentence like, I am a mom...., I am a scrapbooker, I am a dog trainer. etc. Send all pictures and taglines to elizabetho@... 2. Right now, we need still pictures or a short video clip of children, teens and young adults who have CMT. Please send pictures and videos to me: elizabetho@.... Your materials will be sent to a public relations firm for inclusion in one of the above projects. Know that by sending a picture or video clip, you are agreeing to having your picture(s)/videos used in the CMTA's media promotions for CMT Awareness Week and other future CMTA media-related events. Also, the CMTA is now offering CMT T-shirts for $5 and you get a free wrist band with each order. This special offer will run though Sept 26th. It takes all of us to spread the word. If you are able, buy some t-shirts and wear them proudly whenever you are out. I do, and it is a conversation starter! Go to http://www.cmtausa.org Stay tuned for more news about the first ever National CMTA wareness week. The CMTA is planning several podcasts and other events to celebrate this week. I hope you will get involved. Gretchen
