Fingers cross that it will not happen again. Irma
Guest guest
We were denied too. We have 3 kids on the autism spectrum (and our 4th is " quirky " ). One salary isn't enough for 4 kids, let alone disabilities. So we sink deeper and deeper into debt paying for therapies and gymnastics classes and cello lessons...and yet with a dual dx doesn't qualify for SS. The system doesn't always work well!! Sent from my iPhone : How old is your daughter? We have tried numerous times as well, but like you, have been denied. Tori is 10 yrs. old and we have been constantly told that we make too much money. She is also considered legally blind as well. Liz We have been trying to get social security disability for our daughter. We keep getting denied. I was wondering if anyone else has tried to get it. I feel like she should get it. It is not like we are Rockefellers. Especially since she has a dual diagnosis. If anyone needs it, it is these kids. -- Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt. - Special Olympics Motto-RIP Eunice Kennedy Shriver “When we long for life without difficulties, remind us that oaks grow strong in contrary winds and diamonds are made under pressure.-Author Unknown " Knowing trees, I understand the meaning of patience. Guest guest
Hi, We were denied at first, too when we lived in CA even though I had quit my job to stay home with our son. My husband had a decent paying job, but it wasn't enough to make ends meet especially with the cost of living in L.A. Then we moved to PA when our son was 2 and we reapplied since my husband went back to school, made a career change and we started to live at poverty level. Needless to say, we get it now. It's just not right that you have to live this way in order to get SSI. Mom to , six, DS/ASD; and two very hormonal teenage girls who miss their life in CA and constantly remind us how we've " ruined " their lives by moving to PA > We were denied too. Guest guest
Yes, it is awful and the hell of it is when they are 18 yrs even if you are rich like The Trumps you child will get it. We need the help from birth on for our kids. The Govt. need to wake up and help us.There have money to help feed other countries and yet they are not helping their own people. We need to make a move to get this changed. If you make no more than $30,000 in KY your child can get a $1.00. The SSI office does not like to tell people exactly what you can make to get it. The first time I tried to get it for my son the Social Security Office told me that they did not have anything for disabled children. That was a lie because here you apply for Supplemental Security Income through the Social Security Office. Guest guest
How old is your daughter?? If she is under 18, the state uses your income. Some states have a deeming waiver, loop hole waiver, KAtie Becket waiver - something which will allow a child to get Medicaid because of their disability while still being refused SSI based on your income, but eligible based on her disability. > > > We have been trying to get social security disability for our daughter.
