Guest guest
Hello, Just wondering what experiences have been with thumb arthritis. I have recently tried to go back to work (have been on SSDI for some time while raising small children), and was expecting some hurdles to get over as far as my AF's and fatigue, but have been surprised at the increased thumb joint pain in both hands. I have to do ALOT of writing, and should have been more careful to choose a company that has their documentation (healthcare field) on computer. I saw a hand surgeon/ortho this week who ordered some custom splints to wear (when not writing) and he hopes this calms the pain down so I don't have to have surgery. Anyone have surgery like this, arthroplasty, I guess. They either smooth the joint surfaces or put in a little ball to improve gliding of the joint surfaces. I really need to find a better work situation, unfortunately. I can't imagine the thumbs " settling down " while I am holding a pen in my hand 8 hours a day. I have CMT Type 1A. Thanks, Mandy
