Not getting well....

I need some advice, I think.

Dylan, (who is 13, has down syndrome, autism, type 1 diabetes &

alopecia) got sick about 6 weeks ago, cold turned into sinus

infection with fever. Amoxicilin was prescribed, after 5 days still

had the fever, not any better, got changed to augmentin. 3 days

later was worse, took him to the local urgent care, who sent us to

Children's hospital for the night. Couldn't get an IV in at the

hospital, just kind of monitored him & sent us home the next day.

Cough has developed, chest x-rays are clear. Nose draining is

finally clearing up. He keeps complaining of pain in his stomach -

not one specific side & they did blood tests & said it's not

apendicitis.

He has missed a few weeks of school already. Today school called &

said he had to come home. No fever, just " not himself " and wanted to

lay down. I called them back and said that I thought he might just

want to go to grandmas, because he's learned that's where he gets to

go if he gets sick sometimes while I am at work. The nurse said no,

that they tried to send him back to class & the teacher said he was

pale, not involved in class & lethargic.

I just can't seem to get him well, and part of me is thinking that

he's just needing to get back in a routine. Then part of me is

freaking out thinking something greater is going on. He has a

endocrine appt today & I am gonig to have them do another thyroid

blood test & ask about chrones & whatever else they can test for.

Last blood test that his ped. did a few weeks ago they said his white

cells were a bit off, & some in his urine, but not enough to be cause

of anything.

Dylan is a horrible patient, and I hate to put him through more tests

than necessary and I'm starting to feel like his doc thinks I am a

psycho mom.

So, if anybody has any advice or suggestions I'd love to hear them.

Thanks :)

Becky
