Guest guest
Not sure if I gave a complete info when I joined so here it goes: I'm , almost 33 with CMT1A with toddler onset. I had tendon transfers and my arches lowered (left leg when I was 11ish, right leg when I was 12ish). I had AFOs around the preteen years but ditched them (vanity/less useful than anticipated...a bit of both??) and have used orthos in my shoes only. No progression in symptoms. I am getting an AFO for my left leg this fall (casting scheduled for Sept. 9) as the doctors hope that this will increase my stamina. They suspect my exhaustion at the end of the day stems from raising a 4 year old and having a full time job, not from the CMT. Our son Izaac was diagnosed with CMT1A last October. He is now 4 and we just started a nighttime splinting regime. We are also engrossed in a variety of OT designed exercises to encourage handiness and pincer grip strength. I started blogging to relieve my brain of stress. A lot of topic are CMT derived but some are just me blathering on the important things in life: like the musical stylings of New Kids on the Block. http://natteringnic.blogspot.com Cheers all! -Nic
