Guest guest
Beans are supposed to grow into pod beans but are white inside for the bean itself. I planted them in a container outside and plan to grow them to the bean stage. When I got them I thought I was getting green beans and pole beans, but they are white beans. I didn't pay enough attention because most were bush beans that I saw. I am going to grow these to full plants. However, I just wondered if the leaves could be eaten as they had several leaves on them. I figure I'll just leave them to grow. Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Monday, May 21, 2012 8:05 PM Subject: Re: Re: Chips?  What kind of a bean. If you're sprouting dry beans, such as: kidney, pinto, white, these need to be cooked. I sprout them for four days and then they go into soups, stews and chili. Mung beans and azuki can be eaten without cooking after they are sprouted. ew Re: Re: Chips? Are you just eating the leaves of the peas? Wonder if the leaves of a bean re any good. I put out some beans, can't remember if they are organic, but they are really growing in the container box. Last time I ate a bean sprout, it was bitter. Don't know if it was too big or not. Guest guest
Carolyn, Beans can be just about any color. " Green beans " means they are beans that you eat while they are green (string beans), rather than dried beans. A lot of green beans have white seeds, or brown seeds, or black seeds, but they can be other colors, too, and a lot of dry beans can be eaten green as well. You can either eat them as string beans (green beans, or eat the beans themselves before they dry) or let them dry and harvest the beans inside the pods. I wouldn't eat the leaves, though, I don't think they're edible. English peas are but not beans. H.
Guest guest
Mung beans are edible, better when cooked. Aren't there other beans that are eaten when cooked or stir-fried?  Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Tuesday, May 22, 2012 9:34 PM Subject: Re: beans growing  Carolyn, Beans can be just about any color.
