Guest guest
Although it is true that thinking about a movement you wish to make but at present cannot does in fact work, I am really dubious about strengthening toes in this direction I see this exercise as a way to exacerbate hammer toes. I am doing the exercise in the opposite way, attempting to lengthen and flatten my toes, so that they don't cause problems inside shoes, or with tripping over toes hanging down below the foot on the forward leg swing without shoes on. My yoga teacher has me on my knees with feet aimed so that toes are pushed well upward toward the body from their contact with the floor due the position of the foot. This has noticeably lengthened and straightened my toes, which gives them more surface on the ground when being used for walking, allowing for better toe control, which leads to better balance. Interestingly, as in my hands, where my thumbs have no strength to have thumb-finger opposition, my big toes have little if any strength to move either direction, even as my other toes have strengthened and flattened significantly. Everyone I met did this. Even just thinking about moving - if you can't today imagine it - can apparently help stimulate re-enervation!
