Guest guest
Hi, I have many family members with CMT-- my brother is the only one who was diagnosed officially but my father has the high arched feet and as he has gotten older, his hands have deformed- Both have shaky hands. My brother was told that he has the dominant type that affects the X chromosome. My neice has scolosis. I hear that this is one of the many ways CMT affects people. This year I went to a neurologist. I'm thinking about getting tested for it. I have had years of muscle aches and other symptoms such as numb toes and what I have learned is called peripheral neuropathy. I also cannot sleep on one side for more than twenty minutes without flipping over because if I don't, my arm or even my entire side will have pins and needles. Sometimes I wake up at night and even the side of my head has pins and needles in it. It is a scary feeling to wake up too. I believe my feet and wrists have also been affected. I guess I won't know until I have the test done. The more I've been reading, the more I've been learning here.I'm curious to know how far back the gene goes in families?
