Guest guest
Helen, There are people on here who know a lot more than I do. However, I will tell you what Genovations says. This is the COMT snp. It affects the liver and gut. Genovations comments that people with this snp (mine is ++) is at higher risk for depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD and alcoholism. " Catechol-O-methyl transferase is the enzyme primarily responsible for bgreaking down the neurotransmitters dopamine, epinephrine, and norepinephrine " There is also a risk for impaired estrogen metabolism and increased sensitivity to pain. I've taken this info from the physician's copy of the test results. There is a little more.....see if you have this first. If you have this polymorphism there is a 4-fold reduced clearance to the above. So, it may be good to stop anything that stimulates these until you see what your results are. I haven't done the Yasko panel yet but, I found the Genovations extremely helpful. As to energy testing. It may not be perfect but, I use it when there is nothing else to go by. I also muscle test supplements and food. Better than nothing for me. > > There has been a lot of discussion about genes on here and I hope some > of you who understand it can help me out a bit. > > Yesterday I talked to Dr. Cheney and asked again if I could have my > genes tested. Guest guest
Thanks, : That really helps. COMT gene. That explains why I couldn't find COMP in searching this site. I am eager to get this test done and see what is what and if Cheney has anything in his arsenal to help with it if positive. Going back to the doctor who does energy testing to see about the rest of my supplements on Monday, so I'm trying to keep an open mind to it. He was quite nice and even tried to help me with my frozen shoulder, something called the Rossiter method. Put his stocking feet on my shoulders as I lay on the floor and pushed! It hurt but I've got a bit more range of motion. Going to see his massage therapist on Monday as well, she does this Rossiter stuff. Cheney told me that having low neurotransmitter precursors didn't necessarily mean in CFIDS that taking the precursors would help, because the problem is at a deeper level. He said something else about insulin and hypoglycemia that I didn't quite understand, and branch chain amino acids, they sit and block the precursors, but anything that raises insulin will make them move out of the way, something like that. It's all very complex and no clear way to know what to do right now. I said to him I would just take a little of the precursors and that is how we left it. The energy doc thought the DPA was good for me, but that works on endorphins, not the cats. Guest guest
Are there many other genes that have not been discovered for CMT2. I have always tested negative for CMT, but i do know from the EMG that mine is axonal. Now that i see STAR is working furthur on CMT2, i was wondering if i should try to have another genetic test in the future jackie
