Guest guest
I talked with Dr. Macaluso this morning.(Professor of Human Physiology, Department of Human Movement and Sport Sciences, University of Rome Foro Italico) He graciously forwarded me a full text copy of his research which I just added to our Files. These are the results of the first study of Federica Menotti (one of his PhD students) who is carrying out her PhD on walking bioenergetics, neuromechanics and physical activity in Charcot-Marie-Tooth patients (in collaboration with Dr Antonello Damiani, a consultant neurologist who not only takes care of CMT patients but is also a CMT patient himself). Federica has also carried out two other studies, one looking at the effect of recovery time after fatigue and another looking at the correlation between levels of daily living activity and neuromuscular function. The team will submit the results of these two studies to scientific journals soon and I will keep you informed on the outcomes. In addition, they are about to start a project entitled " understanding central and peripheral mechanisms of muscle fatigue in Charcot-Marie-Tooth patients by combining surface-electromyography with electroencephalography " . The team is also looking for funding to look at the effect of innovative exercise programs to improve walking performance and neuromuscular function in CMT patients and hope to be able to continue their work in the future.
