Guest guest
nope.....the best place to store your seeds is in the freezer.....happy trails !.....peace, mary > > I travel most of the year and pull a 40' RV trailer. I dehydrate on the road and sprout seeds as well. At times the trailer gets fairly hot, and I was wondering if I can freeze the sprouting seeds that I carry with me. Will that kill the seed and not let it sprout? >
Guest guest
Absolutely. Store your seeds in the freezer in your RV. Never let seeds sit in hot weather. Whatever might be lurking INSIDE those seeds will absolutely come a calling!!! You don't want that. Better to have them first frozen, and if you can't freeze them, Keep them on ice packs in the fridge. Sproutpeople.org explains how to store seeds. Guest guest
Yes, I keep my sprouting seeds in the freezer because of heat and bugs. You've heard of seed banks? They freeze the seeds and that keeps them viable a lot longer than other storage. H.
Guest guest
Ernest, I've been freezing seed for years and have never had any problems. I also keep my garden seeds in the fridge year round with no problems. The seed banks are vacuum pack their seeds because they are going to store them longer than you or I will. I have a problem with bugs and have lost a lot of grains, noodles, seeds, etc. to them so I've started freezing a lot of things that most people wouldn't think about freezing. Yes, but the seed banks vacuum pack the seeds before they go into the freezer. I know that Gil and Sprout People freezes his seeds and recommends it. I never have. Guess I've just been lucky ew
Guest guest
I don't even have food in my freezer anymore. I have my seeds and on the other side I have my ice cubes. Oh, I forgot. I do have food. Frozen Banana chunks (for when I make my Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Vitamix Ice cream). Now THAT is to die for!!! lol Melody
