Guest guest
My 85 year old mother has had trouble with her feet her whole life but was only diagnosed with CMT 10 years ago. The first braces she wore were rigid AFOs and she is currently wearing fixed Richie braces. But she still has a problem with tripping. Luckily she has not had a bad fall yet. Her physical therapist suggested she try a different type of AFO and today the neurologist suggested either an articulated AFO or a toe-off style. Could any of you give me your thoughts on the pros and cons for these? She has very little fat on the bottom of her feet and I wondered if there are braces with a silicone liner in the base. She has broken one bone in her foot already from pressure with walking. Mom does still drive and is still fairly active. She goes to stretching exercise classes and tai-chi. We want her to continue her activities but more safely. Thanks Faith
