I saw the Salad in a Jar on different videos and thought it was a great idea.

They had some hints on there.  First, the lettuce goes in last.  You put

thedressing in the bottom but next to that you have to have the more coarse

veggies like cabbage or carrots (shredded of course) and then you add other

things but put the luttuces (the leaf ones or iceburg if you need it) on the

top.  You put the lids on, but to help make them last you need to put in your

Food Saver large container and hook it to the FS with the supplemental

attachment cord and you shrink down jar inside it.  That wil pop the cap down

and you can then put in the refrigerator an can tightn down the ring but if you

break the seal you have to do it again.  This is not  the same as canning but

helps it last longer as it has taken out oxygen which will turn things brown if

it is in there  With pulling out the oxygen it can last for a week or so

regardubg the other videos I saw,  You

can go to you tube and check out salad in a jar and find some oher examples

too.  I didn't put my earphones on to check this out, but I'll look again, but

it didn't tell you th other part.  So if you have a Food Saver  which is great

for packing so many things can be used for the salads if you have the

attachment.  You can get the FS lids in wide mouth and small mouth jars and do

it directly with those or you can use the containers so long as your jars are

not too high and you can use them with the jars inside them.  If you have

bigger jars than your supplemental containers, then you need to get the jar

lids.  I did that and then later there was a fantasic deal on supplemental

itesms and I got them too.  Can use for marinatin, etc. If you don't have the

FS to take out the oxygen and seal the tops down then you might want to make

just enough for a day or two.  I'd not do the week's supply without the FS

technique.  It would be a good way to

store veggies as well.  It can be resealed every day if needed.  I had meant

to get me a nw Food Saver as I had one and in the move it got lost.  Then I got

a cheap vacuum packer and don't now the name or brand but it didn't work as well

as the one I had before.  I don't like the one I got as well as I had before

either as it takes more of the bag than the other did.  The other one I had was

either manual or automatic and this one is only automatic and it wastes about an

inch or so on both ends of the bag.  I don't have many jars but once I get a

bunch of veggies I'll need jars to can them. LOL.  I hope.  It would work well

for those who pack a lunch and they can take a lunch of salad every day and eat

from the jar (shake it and it will mix the dressing in when you are ready to

eat.  I think I saw it on Facebook, too.  I think they had a 50% off on the

supplemental things.  The lids were about $10 and $13 or so.  But the small

one did not

come with he attachment line.  I am thinking the large one had the

attachment line.  have to chek it out.  Make sure to get a machine that has

the attachment entry spot where you plug in the attachment line.  I don't know

the right words for them but hope you understand what I mean.

OMG, I would have SO DONE THIS 40 years ago when I had to brown bag it to work.

This would have been amazing and I wouldn't have gotten so overweight.

Thanks much
