Guest guest
your smoothie sounded good. Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Thursday, May 10, 2012 8:45 AM Subject: Sunnies & Broccoli sprouts  Sorry haven't figured out how to keep revalent & only cut parts using iPhone. Anyway, 2 things: 1. A few weeks ago was watching Ray & I believe it was nutritionist from Biggest Loser (def a nutritionist). Anyway I thought I heard her say that 1 tbsp of broccoli sprouts has more nutrition, etc than eating 1 head of broccoli. Now if I can find a way to sneak it into hubby salad. He has asked me to stop putting sprouts in our " general salad mix " 2. I know eons ago I posted about is it okay to do sunnies & even peas hydroponic (my materials have yes). I just don't have room in kitchen for them the other way though I keep looking at laundry room as an alternative. I even sent MSG to handypantry.com (which also complained about condition of 5lb can I received from them with no response so might move all orders to sproutpeople.org). I think since I have to order more broccoli sprouts I'm going to give it a try. Not sure if I'll also order the kits they have for growing soiless What are pros/cons of doing sunnies hyro vs soiless Debbie in NJ enjoying smoothie of 5 garden, 3 garden, June berries, strawberries, pineapple, banana, flax, Great Green, kale & ice water
Guest guest
but isn't coir and sure to grow mat a soil-less medium? Not just sprouts in nothing but moisture but in a medium and not soil.  I am not sure if my broccoli sprouts sprouted or not but didn't see a lot of just seeds. Could only taste the radishes and the clover which was sweet, unless it was broccoli that was sweet instead of clover.  I may do separately so I know which is which and see about the taste.  Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Thursday, May 10, 2012 8:54 AM Subject: Re: Sunnies & Broccoli sprouts  Well, please allow me to chime in on soil less growing. I'll NEVER do it again. For Microgreens I mean. I did an experiment with sunnies and pea shoots. The pea shoots are FINALLY shooting up. I am now watering them 2 times a day and placing in the sun and they are finally shooting up. But the sunnies did nothing. I did everything I was instructed to do (I watched videos on youtube on growing sunnies with no medium). The other day I gave up and transferred the bath to my coir and now (won't know for sure) but I hope they TAKE and will start shooting up soon. So to put it simply, in my case, for any future sunnies or pea shoots, I shall ALWAYS use either a Sure to Grow Mat or coir. Simple as that. Take care, Melody > > Sorry haven't figured out how to keep revalent & only cut parts using iPhone. Anyway, 2 things: > > 1. Guest guest
Ah, please allow me to clarify. When I was saying soil-less, I was referring to NOTHING. Growing in NOTHING. I had soaked the sunnies and pea shoots overnight and next day I put them in a tray with drainage holes. The guy in a youtube video did this and his sunnies got so nice and high. Mine did nothing. So, for me, from now on, it's either the coir or the STG Mat. And I tried to save the batch of sunnies so I transfered them into some coir and they ARE NOT GROWING. I think I have to dump them. Oh woe is me!!! lol Melody > > > > Sorry haven't figured out how to keep revalent & only cut parts using iPhone. Anyway, 2 things: > > > > 1. Guest guest
Givbe them time. You put them in the freezer and it may take a longer time because they were in there. I'd wait a bit longer. Keep them damp. Might just take longer. Hope the freezing didn't kill the seeds. But the company said to freeze for 60 days didn't it? Guest guest
For me, it's just takes too long to do them without any kind of medium. So I now have the mats. I follow the directions. They sprout BEAUTIFULLY. I will continue to freeze the seeds because to me, it gives me peace of mind. lol Melody
