Guest guest
It is now towards the end of the yearly period during which competitive cyclists traditionally reserve for " base training " ; those high volume, low intensity months of 20-30 hour weeks. I've been struggling with the validity of this notion for some time now. Presently, I seem to be enjoying huge improvements in my endurance pace by training primarily at and above VO2max power. Are there scientific studies that actually support the premise of training at below race intensity to improve endurance? If so, can someone point me in their direction and perhaps explain the physiological adaptations that occur during such training? Thanks! -Marshall Hance Asheville, NC
