Guest guest
Well, I think like ALL things, " bad " is relative to the amount consumed. The small amount that would be needed for a quick glaze on a stir fry SHOULD be " okay " , provided it fits in with the daily allowance of ANY type of sugar. I no longer have blood sugar issues, but I used it in moderation before I got them under control. It is certainly less " bad " than hidden sugars or HFCS, lol. > > > > > > > > Read the label on Worcestershire. many brands have High Fructose Corn Syrup > > > > ew > > > > > > > > Re: Here's my Pea Shoot Stir Fry > > > > > > > > No soy sauce? Is there a reason? I hadn't used Worchestershire on it but is that a substitute for soy because you don't want to eat soy? I do have some of that. Did you put it on top of rice? I like broccoli in mine and someitmes cauliflower, and carrots. Oh carrots help to make it sweet and celery, too. I would put peppers in it (sweet) if my husband would eat them, but he won't. We usually put chicken in ours or have in the past. My husband would love it with shrimp. I had never put sprouts in before but I particularly liked the look of the pea sprouts. I didn't get what kind of sprouts you had 2nd. It did look good. I don't think I've ever put tomatoes in a stirfry, but I do love tomatoes. I sometimes just eat a tomato for a snack, the whole thing with a tiny bit of sea salt. > > > > > > > > T > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Was it you who asked about toothpaste? Everyone used to use salt and baking soda to brush their teeth. Does a good job, but doesn't taste the best. Not sure what you could put in with it to make it better. Somehow chopped up green mint won't do it unless you use some water and emulsify it. My mother showed us how to put it in our hands and then dip a wet toothbrush in it and brush. She said she was about 12 when she first had toothpaste and before that, this was what they used and it was often with a finger instead of with a brush. I'd opt for the brush.  I am not sure if it was you or Melody, and someone else who is like me and gets eaten up by mosquitoes and flying bugs. I read something about the repellants don't repel but cover up the scent so mosquitoes can't find you as easily. I once, when I knew some kids who were having a problem with lice, was looking up on internet as the thought of it was making me itch and found that shampoos with coconut oil were supposed to not be liked and would keep them off. I think I sent that information along. They have gotten over that or quit sharing brushes and combs. Anyway, I wondered abougt coconut oil for an insect repellant. Saw something in the paper and so as not to use DEET, which is killing birds and even worse, possibly, killing bees which pollenate the veggies and flowers, they suggested Alpha-Keri and Skin so soft which " repel " insects. They are easy on the skin. There was something with oil of lemon eucalyptus or the synthesized version which they say will work and is not harmful. But might be rough on skin. Then also says that Bite Blocker works and it is made with oil of geranium, soybean and coconut and offers 1-1/2 hr of protection. Makes me wonder if just coconut would work or not. I wanted to pass this on. That was in my local newspaper. I am in Florida and the no-seeums have been bad this year. We had no problem with them year for several years as the hurricanes had blown them away. They were in the Everglades but came back out with more water on grounds. Larger mosquitoes can be a health hazard here as they carry diseases. Supposedly the small ones haven't yet, but if they start biting everyone, they may.  Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Friday, April 6, 2012 11:59 AM Subject: Re: Here's my Pea Shoot Stir Fry  For future use, you can make a wonderful " mock soy sauce " by just mixing some sea salt with unsulphered molasses-just mix the salt to taste (you need quite a bit of salt, but if it is real sea salt, it won't effect you like table salt does) > > > > Read the label on Worcestershire. many brands have High Fructose Corn Syrup > > ew > > > > Re: Here's my Pea Shoot Stir Fry > > > > No soy sauce? Guest guest
Molasses has sugar in it so in that sense not good, but how much are you going to use? That may be a bigger issue. If you are not using a lot, it may not matter. If there are kidney problems that could be a bigger issue so might have to talk to doctor about that. Molasses, I would think would be a little more complex so don't know about glycemic index on it. Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Friday, April 6, 2012 1:52 PM Subject: Re: Here's my Pea Shoot Stir Fry  . Does unsulphured molasses...well, is it bad for diabetics? Guest guest
 that is what I figured, too. But seems like there might have been a kidney problem with it, but maybe that is because my DH is on dialysis and he has so many no-nos. Guest guest
My daughter and I use homemade tooth powder-always have. I just put a drop of peppermint essential oil in a mason jar with baking soda and a bit of sea salt. I no longer use the peppermint, since I like the clean feeling without it, but my daughter likes it. She also likes it if I put a natural cinnamon stick in the baking soda-just putting it in the jar with the baking soda flavors it up. For mouthwash, we use a solution of peppermint oil, peroxide, baking soda and water. > > Was it you who asked about toothpaste? Everyone used to use salt and baking soda to brush their teeth. Does a good job, but doesn't taste the best. Not sure what you could put in with it to make it better. Somehow chopped up green mint won't do it unless you use some water
Guest guest
tHere ARe some good things in molasses. Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Friday, April 6, 2012 9:06 AM Subject: Re: Here's my Pea Shoot Stir Fry  EW: Just read the label. No high fructose corn syrup. Has molasses, and sugar (1 gram) so that's the same as having HFCS to me. Never noticed this. Thanks very much. Guest guest
Wow, that looks good. Now, how many servings was that? For me, it looks like it would be one serving, but I also probably wouldn't have anything else except maybe rice or noodles to serve it on top of. andresa > > It came out delicious. Guest guest
melody.....molasses is a biproduct of sugarcane.....when sugar ( cane ) is processed the molasses is removed.....brown sugar still has some molasses in it.....peace, mary > > > > > > > > Read the label on Worcestershire. many brands have High Fructose Corn Syrup > > > > ew > > > > > > > > Re: Here's my Pea Shoot Stir Fry > > > > > > > > No soy sauce? Guest guest
Hi. I made it as a side dish so it serves me and Alan. If you add some pasta to it (and doesn't that sound lovely?), that would make a very fine dinner. Oh I must do that for Alan sometime. What an easy dinner. And I grew most of it myself. How fun Melody > > > > It came out delicious. And the aroma in my kitchen. mm mm good. > > > > > > > > Melody > > >
Guest guest
Thank you . It has carbs so I keep away, the only carbs I get is from my veggies.
