Guest guest
Sorry about that. Wrong link. The video I wanted to link to showed Casey Burgener doing both lifts and a an audio analysis. I'll see if I can find it and a link. W.G. Ubermensch Sports Consultancy San Diego CA ================= " W.G. This will answer a lot of questions in regard to the importance of the OH squat in Weightlifting training: http://www.wlinfo.com/ W.G. Have you ever experimented with a wider base stance in lieu of raising the heals? If my memory serves me correctly Mel Siff was a proponent of this strategy as a way to learn the correct movement pattern without a prop. I'm curious if anyone has a lot of success with this method. Next, I've personally had a lot of success " prepping " the posterior lower leg prior to and during the actual squatting and it often removes the need for a wider stance and/or heel lift. It's more intensive, but I've gotten incredible results using some manual therapy to help clear up the neural confusion (some folks use a foam roller, but I think hands on works a lot better), joint tracking to engage talar glide, and targeted dynamic flexibility for the muscles directly responsible for the proper motion. This type of interdisciplinary approach isn't for the average gym rat, but has a lot of applicability for the high level trainers of this group. I'm looking for insights, experiences, and/or general thoughts on the topic. Guest guest
, I think you hit it on the head... The majority of blame can squarely be placed on idiocy of USAW! We can sit here and blame the IWF, but at the end of the day, the US got 2 spots to send for the Olympics. Common sense would be that you'd send your highest ranking or placing lifter within the weight classes, especially one that helped get those 2 spots in the first place. Instead, they insisted on using some stupid formula to send other lifters and omitted the best lifter from the list. I'm not sure why the IWF is to blame on this matter...as far as I can tell, they didn't force the US from keeping Casey off that list, they simply followed through with what they said in the first place and the US sent the wrong lifters. I think this should once and for all shake things up within the offices there at USAW. There needs to be a complete house cleaning with a new board, coaches, and a clear direction of the future. M.G. Guest guest
It would be nice to see a return to weightlifting power in the US. I used to think the biggest, strongest athletes were simply attracted to other sports - and many are. But with weight classes weightlifting can appeal to smaller people. Clear direction. We could use that concept here in Canada as well.
