Transfats & Evidence

In another group I made a comment about Transfats being the ABSOLUTE worse kind

of fat to consume because it will make you fat.

I had a nurse / moderator write me and tell me that transfats were like

saturated fat etc and she doesn't believe that transfats do that.

I know we have a lot of knowledgeable people in our group and so she is asking

me for studies done that prove trans are bad for you.

Anybody with the ability to help support the fact trans are one of the worse

things a person can consume and the study(ies) to back it up.

Thanks

Please don't take this wrong but I'm sorry, I'm VERY interested in this idea but

I'm not convinced. You sent links to blogs mainly and anyone can write a blog

and say anything they want. And one research study done by a vet on 51 moneys

isn't going to sway me. All that you're hearing about this is probably based

one this one little study. The media jumps on things like this and it's blown

all out of proportion because they represent it as fact but it's still just one

little study....on moneys....by a vet.

I will never say that trans fats are good for you in any way but I'm not ready

to believe that they cause you to gain more weight than any other fat....It

could be true! But I think more research by medical doctors on humans needs to

be done.

I do contract medical research for a living and I am also a nurse who

participates in the Nurses' Health Study. Like I said before, I am VERY

interested in this theory. It's what I do for a living!

Can you find a different source of info for me to look at that doesn't talk

about the monkey study?

And if you'd like, I'd be more than willing to share my theories on weight gain

in humans! Based on personal research....

Hugs,

Kristi

The list goes on and on and on and there is a lot of reading on this and

easily found. Fairly old news about transfats and why they are the worse fat

.. and not equal to saturated fat. anyways ..

The URL didn't come through...Wanna try again?

And I think you my be a little confused about trans fats. They don't

make you any fatter than any other fat. All fats have 9 calories per

gram. But they are the worst kind. In layman terms, they clog your

arteries and cause coronary artery disease.

dont wan to cut out the good fats because these will give you a

feeling of being satisfied and satiated. They are an important part of

your diet and well being. you will want them in smaller quantities :)
