Leaf lettuce. You can pick (harvest) the outter leaves and it will continue to

grow new ones on the inside for quite a while. Soon it will start to form a kind

of stem looking thing in the center. At that same time the leaves will become

bitter, and then it will time to toss it into the compost pile.

When do I know my leaf lettuce is ready to eat

I forgot to ask this question when I first posted about growing this on my

window sill.

I got the plant from the cooking class last week. I replanted it in the coco

coir and it's on my window sill getting the sun and it's all perky but I have no

idea when (or even how) I harvest this. Do I wait until the leaves are ALL OVER

THE PLACE, or do I snip pieces here or there.

I have no clue. I water it every day, it seems to be doing fine. But is it

going to get taller? And how long does this take? Thanks much

Thanks.  That will be helpful to moe of us.  Suppose same thing goes for the

greens in the Aerogarden.  I haven't had time to plant mine yet.  I need to

pick up another one tomorrow (Craigslist find).  I intend to really have an

indoor garden.  Figure police will come to check on me when electric bill goes

up from the lights. LOL.

Oh, silly me, I thought it would continue to grow if I kept it on the window

sill. See, I don't know anything.

lol

And thanks much. Tonight, we shall be eating leaf lettuce along with our

sprouts.

Thanks much, Melody
