Guest guest
Diane, Welcome to the group. I have HNPP and the spasms you describe are real, I have them in both hands/forearms as well as legs. Mine are, I believe, spasms that occur when I sit on a specific nerve too long. My core is pretty numb between armpits & upper thighs, so I don't take meds b/c I don't have pain. MY hips no longer support my upper body, so for the past year I'm in a power wheelchair full-time (paid for myself, Aetna said no). I was diagnosed about 5 years ago when I was 55, it was late onset but very fast deteriorating. My sister was just diagnosed, she is 54. My dad had this, but we didn't know what it was back then. I was a Realtor for 18 years, but this desease is forcing me to give that up. Luckily I'm on SSDI and I'm old enough to go into retirement. Glad you are walking, keep doing it as long as you can.
