Guest guest
Sure sounds cleaner than the coir. I have no idea what the PET means. Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Friday, April 6, 2012 9:16 AM Subject: Re: Sure to Grow Mats  Carolyn: The sure to grow mats I got from Sprouthouse are YELLOW, nothing remotely white about them. Could be the image that my Flip camera takes that doesn't let the yellow fully come out. But not to worry. Sprouthouse just emailed me the following explanation (I wrote to them asking why their mats were yellow and the others were white). Here is their reply: ---------------------------------------------------------- " thank you for your recent email and for your purchases as well. the sure to grow video that you watch has a product that is made from recycle PET plastic, recycled soda bottles. that is the white product. The product that i sell is made from Tencel fiber which is cellulose and is bio-degradeable in soil. i carry the rolls of the white material but not the sheets of it. it is a product from sure to grow, you can email them and make certain of this if you wish. i think i may be they only company or one of the only companies that they sell this product to any longer. i like it because it is biodegradeable in soil. and it has the same properties and qualities as the recycled PET plastic product. when they first approached me to carry this product, i just fell in love with sprouting all over again. i think it makes sprouting so much easier because the seeds/sprouts do not dry out during the day. i use this everytime i sprout my leafy sprouts and just love it. ---------------------------------------------------------- So Carolyn,I feel very reassured by this explanation and I've bought sprouting seeds from them also. Never had a problem. I think I'll follow their lead and grow a batch of brassicas using this tencel Sure to Grow Mat. We'll see how it goes. So exciting to find a less messy solution than coir. Will update. Melody

Guest guest
On the bottom of plastic containers you will find the three arrow symbol with a recycle number. No.1 is PET or PETE. Found on soda bottles, water bottles and now on a lot of fresh berry containers. This the number that recyclers want. There are more uses for #1 than the others. ew Re: Sure to Grow Mats Carolyn: The sure to grow mats I got from Sprouthouse are YELLOW, nothing remotely white about them. Guest guest
Not sure what it is after reading the information. No BPA? Guest guest
BPA is something different, and yes many of those items still contain it. ew Re: Sure to Grow Mats Carolyn: The sure to grow mats I got from Sprouthouse are YELLOW, nothing remotely white about them. Guest guest
Mel, You got the right thing. According to the info that you got from the company, the product will not harm the planet if you toss it into the compost bin or out in your garden. The other is made of old soda bottles and will takes years and years, if ever, to disintegrate. ew Re: Sure to Grow Mats I think, from what the Sprouthouse person told me, that the white thing that the Sure to Grow company puts out is what you are referring to, right? Are the Sure to Grow mats (the yellow ones) that I just got, the same thing? Now I'm confused. Melody > > > >
Guest guest
I don't know, was it two different companies that you checked, or just one? ew Re: Sure to Grow Mats But it's from the same company, right? They make two kinds of Sure to Grow mats?? Melody > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
I looked at the video ad that you sent and thought that they had researched things and that these were better and were organic, which any form of plastic is not. Might want to look at that again. I didn't understand some of the terms they used in the description but the product as they described it on the video sounded really good.  Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Friday, April 6, 2012 9:48 PM Subject: Re: Sure to Grow Mats  Well, the videos on youtube (showing the white mats) are made by the Sure to Grow company. The yellow mats I got from Sprouthouse are called Sure to Grow mats. I would think it's the same company no??
