Guest guest
Without getting into the benefits/what is functional I am looking for solid research that supports the idea of training from a standing position. I have long advocated this method as it allows me to add extra vectors of force the body would experience much as if they were moving in the real world (ie the load become more than vertical/axial). Since we react to gravity in everything we do, we move according to gravity. However from a standing position anytime we turn/throw/walk/run we engage ourselves in the transverse plane. It therefore makes sense to me to train the transverse plane. But all the olympic lifts are mostly saggital. I am not talking about kettlebells or aerobics, but am referring to something as simple as a one armed deadlift that engages the transverse plane slightly. Anyone got a thought on this?
