Guest guest
Tom, Please be careful following exercise & workout advice regarding your back situation. This is not something you want to screw around with and end up exacerbating the problem. Research has shown that spinal flexion, hyperextension, side-bending and rotation can cause serious L-spine problems (McGill). Even though the intentions would good and meant to be helpful, all of the exercises recommended to you in a recent post are on the spinal movement " Do Not List " when dealing with a lower back injury and many of these movements should not be done with a healthy back. For you to better understand your L-spine issue, I am going to suggest getting a copy of Stuart McGill's two books, Lower Back Disorders, Evidence-Based Prevention and Rehabilitation and Ultimate Back Fitness and Performance. The Lower Back Disorder Book is available through various sources (Amazon, Human Kinetics, Perform Better, etc). The Ultimate Back Fitness and Performance can be obtained from Stuart's website, www.backfitpro.com. If you follow through with reading one or both of these texts, you will be amazed by what you didn't know about your low back and core, how your injury likely happened (bio-mechanically) and what course of action to take for rehab and prevention.
