Guest guest
Matt, I cringed when I read your post about the foot. I, too, assumed that a broken bone would hurt, and that turned out not to be the case. I would suggest you have your foot x-ray'd. Re: the swelling and the extreme nerve pain when you recline, I think they're related. Have you considered compression socks? My foot surgeon recommended them to me to reduce swelling after my last surgery, and I was surprised how much the nerve pain reduced, and quickly. I guess all the edema puts pressure on the nerves and makes them scream. I " m much more comfortable with the compression socks. Worth a try. O Foot/Ankle Pain Hi all, boy it keeps getting harder and harder as years go on. Stairs are brutal and I wish now I had bought a ranch. This 2 story is just too much some times. I know as a kid most of my injuries were on stairs. A few weeks before Christmas I had a miss step and only used 1/2 my foot on a step. I heard a crunch, it hurt a bit but not to bad. Did not think to much of it and then the front part of foot was swollen and my ankle. My ankle is usually swollen a bit and after a long day, its a real mess. Anyways this continued pretty much up until yesterday. I finally saw my ankle again and my fore foot did not look swollen. It seems to take longer and longer to recover from accidents and its usually the ankle. The crazy part was I did not even feel the pain until it was gone. Strange, something's hurt more then others. The things I think would hurt a lot don't and the strangest things hurt like <blank>. Like when I finally put my feet up at night on the lazy boy, or going to bed, I get the sharp shooting pains going though my feet. They hurt worse then <blank> for about 3-5 seconds, I usually groan or " yelp " in pain and I get the looks from the family. They now know what it is :-). I try not to but they always surprise me and can't help myself sometimes. Have a great weekend all, Matt (Hamilton, Canada)
Guest guest
You know I said tonight to my wife, that maybe, just maybe I broke a bone or 2. Its been about 6 weeks, normal healing time for broken bones. The funny thing is now that I have come out on the end on this one my foot feels better this it has in many years. I am thinking that the break was necessary and now it has actually corrected something in some strange way. Weird I know, as I type it I can't believe I am saying it :-) Yeah, the shooting pain I have had for a long time in my right foot. It just started in my left a few months back. Thanks for the idea , you know I never thought of compression socks. I think I will pick up a pair or 2. It sure is worth a try, especially the days I do to much. Which is most days, normal living whit 3 kids. Thanks again, Matt Foot/Ankle Pain Hi all, boy it keeps getting harder and harder as years go on. Stairs are brutal and I wish now I had bought a ranch. Guest guest
Have you considered getting one of those contraptions that lifts you up the stairs? Looks like you can buy them used here for as little as 550. Don't know how legit this website is but.... http://www.stairliftexchange.com/classifieds/index.php?method=showhtmllist & list=\ classifiedscategory & rollid=6 & clearoff=1 > > Matt, I cringed when I read your post about the foot.
