Hi Diane,

Yes, insurance pays for the EMG/NCV - depending on which insurance you have and

if there is a co-payment.

As for the muscle cramping it sounds like the combination of medications isn't

working for you. You might want to talk to your neurologist about Flexeril,

Baclofen, Robaxin, Ultram and Ativan for pain, maybe even an anti-depressant.

When I did my original research I learned that Neurontin is effective in only

1/3 of the population.

I have taken Robaxin, Ultram and Ativan with no problems or sedation.

As for the back pain (oh boy, do I remember this) all the hard narcotics did was

dull the pain a bit and completely dull my mind. Have you been examined by an

orthopedist who treats backs? I was at the end of my rope, being drugged,

feeling dopey and after 6 months of PT, I begged the guy to operate. (first

surgery was for a ruptured disc, second surgery 7 years later was to clean away

bone that was squeezing nerves) Both very successful.
