Guest guest
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! So I have a question for all the CMT'ers out there... How many people have tactile issues? Touch of any kind. We made a deal with our son yesterday. He badly wants something for his laptop, and we told him if he had turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes, we would buy it for him. You have to understand, the child (16 years old) has never been an " eater. " There have been days when he says just before bed " I think I forgot to eat today. " If it were not for peanut butter, chicken nuggets, and chocolate milk, I think he would met away completely. When he was younger, his PT used to rub him with horse hair brushes to try and desenstize him to the touch, and all along we have been firmly convinced his eating issues were all about texture and the feel, not the taste. Yesterday really brought this home. Turkey went ok - light and dark meat. We may just get him to eat it again. Stuffing, taste ok, did not like the feeling of it in his mouth. Then came the mashed potatoes - outright gagging. Again, all about how it felt in his mouth. I can be much the same. I have many food quirks, and much of it is touch related (will not touch a pickle but it can be on my sandwich or burger already, cannot put an eggplant in my mouth if it has skin, eat one thing at a time around my plate - never mix...). So the apple does not fall far from this tree. What about you? Are you like this? Do you think it is CMT related? (Both of us have it, younger son so far seems to have escaped it) What have you done about it if you are like this? Mark
