Guest guest
Hi, I also have CMT and I have had a raspy hoarse voice my entire adult life. I went to my neurologist who then sent me to a ears, nose, throat specialist for a problem I was having with swallowing and the specialist put a scope down my throat and found that my CMT had caused my voice box to atrophy to the point where it was half closed. The specialist said this was the cause of my raspy hoarse voice and my swallowing problem. He also said surgery would be a last resort given the weakness of my voice box and to only perform surgery on my voice box if my swallowing problem became severe. I watch what I eat, take small bites, and chew everything many times before I swallow it. I know the foods I must avoid. I have learned to live with my swallowing problem. As far as my raspy hoarse voice goes I view it as a unique beacon of light that my creator has given me and I truly cherish it. Do not worry what others think about your voice. Remember, it is what your creator has given you, so use it without fear or bad feelings. You will be quite surprised that most people are good spirited and when you speak they will listen to your message because that is why they are there in the first place. I do hope my personal story will ease your fears about your voice. Please enjoy your life with the tools your creator has given you and you will truly shine. Sincerely, DL
Guest guest
For all of you with swallowing, and raspy voice, issues: Please get checked for allergies - inhalants, and foods. I did. I was. I'm doing better. > > Hi, > > I also have CMT and I have had a raspy hoarse voice my entire adult life.
