Guest guest
This was a very interesting study. I do think how we view a chronic diesease will impact the way we are able to deal with it. In my case, the first couple of weeks after diagnosis was tough as I read about people who were really struggling with physical limitations and progressive degeneration. (My CMT is showing very mild symptoms of sensory loss and weakness at the moment). But I really believe that the more informed we are about chronic disease and ways that we can adapt and cope with the limitations of the disease, it helps us see that although there are certain aspects that we cannot control, there are other areas where we can do things that can possibly impact our lifestyle and health in positive ways (diet, exercise, maintaining proper weight, using assistive devices or orthotics, etc). A positive perception of the chronic disease will not make the disease go away. But a positive perception will help us to seek out information that can help with our overall health and daily activities. At least that has been my experience, not only with CMT but with another chronic health issue I am dealing with. Blessings, Barb
