Guest guest
My husband has CMT 1A, so did his dad and his dad's sister. My 6 yr old daughter was tested for it, it came back negative. My 2 1/2 yr old son, has not been tested yet. He has expressive language delay. A physical therapst evaluated him and says his abdominal and shoulder muscles are weak. Are theses signs of CMT 1A or something else?? Has anyone had or know anything about theses?? He is missing material on chromosome 10. Me and my husband had a blood test and I am also missing it too. Thanks for any help!!
Guest guest
To the Brown family, Could possibly be Congenital hypomyelinating neuropathy (CMT 4E) either dominant or recessive. Or DI-CMT Type A. Or something else. CMT as a peripheral neuropathy primarily affects feet and hands first - " peripheral " as in " farthest away " nerves. Best to talk with a neurologist about your son. Gretchen

Guest guest
To the Brown Family, I think with CMT you have week muscles in feet and hands first. Many years later more muscles can be affected, but it does not start out in the abdominal muscles. Speech delay is not CMT related either. I think it is something else in this case.
