Ester,

I do not have AFOs, never have had. But I have custom made 'in-shoe' orthotics

(sometimes people refer them to inserts) They are flexible, yet support my feet

underneath and also allow for better footstrike. They are custom made by an

orthotist who watched me walk, made notations on foot strike, used molds, then

made them. I wore them for 3 weeks, then went in to minor tweaks. Now I just go

in for reconditioning once a year. Insurance said NO to payment initially, but I

fought that, as I had a 'prescription' written for them by my doctor.
