Guest guest
Thank you for introducing yourself, Hanadi. Foot surgery is something many of us have encountered with success, and some without success. While the surgery won't cure your CMT, it may help you walk better. I had foot surgery when a child and it was a success. But before surgery perhaps a change in your AFOs may prevent/postpone surgery. You might want to ask your orthotist about this. You will most likely need to be non-weight bearing after surgery, so you will need to think about that, and how your family can help. If you have surgery in the US, there is also the expense to think about, plus any post-operative time here, and then checkups, and physical therapy. Perhaps you may wish to contact foot surgeons in Germany, the UK, as well as the US and listen to what would be recommended for you, then make your decisions. With any major surgery there is always risk involved, and of course pain. But your post-op pain will be managed with medication.
