,

's news coverage was such a fantastic (and well-done) story! Thanks to

, thanks to her mom, thanks to her lawyer, thanks to the federal judge

who had the sense to quickly recognize prejudice and deliberate negligence! I

have seen those nasty locked elevators in some schools (not all schools) that I

have worked in. Always wondered who they were actually meant for because access

was severely limited!

, you are gorgeous, talented and fearless -- and blessed to have a

supportive family.. It's hard to believe a school, supposedly an institution of

learning, would publically display such ignorance, though I'm betting they're

darn sorry now they didn't just give you a stupid key to begin with.  They

look

'so' foolish.

You'll probably never know how many people you've saved by sharing a part of

you're personal life. What is that saying -- save one person and you save the

world. You make me feel joyful.

Wow and . Good job! NEVER be ashamed of how you look

ever. You are both beautiful. I climbed stairs just like you,

, for years. , I fell down stairs in high school for

years. The principal assigned two football players (likely as

punishment for something they'd done wrong) to me and their job was to

carry my books from class to class so I could try to ascend or

descend the stairs using both hands on the railings. I fell weekly. It

was terrible and I was so bruised and broken I could hardly move

sometimes. There was no elevator but that was 50 years ago. At

university, years later, I knew I'd get knocked over by the hordes of

kids in the halls and I couldn't climb the stairs so i asked if I

could park a small electric scooter in one of the hall closets. They

said yes (I think being a mature student helped but things had changed

re awareness somewhat) and I plugged it in to charge it between

classes. I'd park my car in the parking lot for disabled student, walk

up a ramp to the door, climb up the one step into the door and walk

carefully along the wall about 30 feet to the closet, unlock the door,

unplug the scooter, get on, drive out, relock the door and I'd be on

my way to classes all over the university. I sat on it during class

and eventually organized a committee to make the university more

accessible and establish an office for disabled students. Thstbwas

from 1984 until 1989. The university is totally accessible now and

they have probably 15 people working on various aspects of access.

I've been an advocate for people with disabilities ever since. NEVER

sell yourself short. Go after what you want and what you need. You did

it once, you'll likely have to do it agaon but every time you do it

people learn and others benefit.

Kudos to both of you. I think you're terrific

Has anyone put the TV spot on You-tube.?

I still don't know what they were thinking. Sad they still won't give out

keys to other kids or teachers that need it.

Begs the question as to why they build two story schools in the first

Thank you,

I am not sure about the youtube. I sent your email on to so she

can see how far things have come from when you were in school until now.

Funny access was available for but she was still denied.

,

I am glad to hear that your daughter finally has access to the elevator.

When I went to high school about 20 years ago I had to use an elevator, however

the school gave me a key on the first day every year I attended. It was not just

me, it was anybody who was in a wheelchair or had a hard time walking. I was

also allowed to leave class 5 minutes early so that I would have an easier time

moving from class to class during break. In addition if I wanted I could have a

friend push me in my wheelchair.

Take care

Thank you Spy..

I was in so much pain and I just didn't have the energy to do anything. I

do not do well with stress at all. I have worked myself up to almost 3

minutes on the treadmill. Before this started I could do 20 mins.

The stress has really taken a toll.
