Lori,

Maybe some Spenco insoles for cushioning. They can be cut easily to slip in his

shoes. You can find them at any sports store or perhaps your local

Walmart/Walgreens/CVS/ etc.

Then on the other hand, since he's already developing callouses, you may want to

talk with an orthotist about making custom inserts, to off load the pressure

being put on his feet.

For keeping calluses smooth I use fragrance free Neutrogena hand creme, but they

make a Foot cream too.

I use Amlactin, and over the counter lotion that softens the callus. When I

shower, I use a gentle pumice stone and it does a good job of keeping the callus

down.
