Theywere a little concerned about hydrocephalus, but she didn't have anydelays and was rolling and sitting on her own by then. In our casethey chose to do an ultrasound, although our doc told us that a CTscan is the "gold standard for this". She felt the risk was low, butwanted some reassurance. My daughter checked out fine, and her headhas measured about 95th percentile since that time (staying on thesame curve since then). My daughter's height and weight have both been 90+ percentile sinceshe was young, so I think her head was just catching up with herbody. I just wanted to let you know that fast growth is something tocheck, but not always a problem. I do think the fast growth at a timewhen she wasn't sitting yet was a major contributor to her flat head(brachy). Guest guest
, You should be able to whisper. I don't know if that helps or not. I can only breath out of my left nostril, so I know how that feels with the breathing issue also. I hope everything goes smoothly. Guest guest
Hi , Good luck with your surgery! Have been trying to think of any practical suggestions for you and your boyfriend communicating post surgery... Well, I would suggest be prepared beforehand.Work something out between you (hand gestures, recognised by touch) signifying basic needs.  Suggestion: make a brief (perhaps 5 or 10 point list) of likely questions /needs you might have and write them down(for you) speak out loud (for him) allocating each a number.Have a sign to show you want something from the list. Your boyfriend would need to learn these and relevant number. Then he could make an informed guess, and ask you ,and you signal thumbs up or whatever (To be recognised by feeling the hand(s))  or alternatively you could display 3 fingers, eg, if you needed say Item 3 on your list. Does your boyfriend read braille?.Know there may be flash cards of certain items as used in schools) Hope your 'speechless time' is very short and the pain looked after well. Yes that would be an important item to have on your list. You could direct nurses, doc's attention to such things. So perhaps 2 lists??? Don't know if this is any help but hope so. Guest guest
, My son had his tonsils taken out 2 years ago when he was 19, he also had a diveated septum that was done at the same time. He was in the hospital overnight and then home with me waiting on him. He was really not that bad, did drink liquids for about a week I think, he didn't even use most of the pain meds the dr prescribed. Can you ask your doctor about doing both at the same time? And if he does, can you write it on a braille machine? That's the main thing that I can think of. The other thing would be for him to come close and you say one word at a time as slowly and clearly as you can. Best of luck to you. I was 16 when I had my tonsils out and it was miserable. Guest guest
Jen and group; I am so glad the surgery is over for ya hon. I know its been a few days since you wrote this. As everyone can see I am a little behind in my post. I am assuming it is better now. You know what assume means to people that assumes don't you lol. Haaaaaaaaaa. yummmmmm demerol. Love Demerol. I hope it helped a lot. I know it wears off before you can get your next one. It is necessary so we don't become addicts, and Lortab wow. You're to messed up to fill it I hope. I can't believe they gave you Demerol, lortab and Biaxan (if Biaxan is a pain med that is) Wow you shouldnt of felt anything. I don't know what they gave me for pain when I had surgery, however; it barely worked anyway. Oh I see you said your throat was still sore. Try to remember when a loved one has surgery family sometimes say things they don't mean. It's very stressful when a loved one has surgery for us. We tend to say things we don't mean. shouldnt have told you what your mother said. But thats how n-laws tend to be. ESpecially our spouses tell us everything our family says (except when it's good lol). When they put me to sleep for an operations. I had about 5. I would say my prayers. God forgive me of my sins, I believe that Jesus is your son and Jesus died on the cross for all our sins amen. Haaaaaaaa, I take no chances. I am out than. I am praying all the way to the surgery room anyway. My sisters would be witches at times of stress. It's becuase they get so stressed, they make me want to punch them in the nose. My one sister I did punch in the nose. I was 20 and she was 16. I felt so bad afterwards. She forgave me of course haaaaaaaaa. I love my family very deeply. If anyone wants to hear that funny story E-mail me. I can say it here but it may be boring. I don't think it's boring. But thats a matter of opinion. I also have percocets from my primary as well if needed. My throat is very sore even when taking the loratab. the last thing I remember was seeing them put the sleepy stuff into my iv then waking up in the recovery room and wanting dustin. My mom drove us home and well from the get go when we got her she became a witch with a b. she took dustin to walmart to get my scripts filled and got lunch and muttered under her breath that dustin was a baby. He is far from it. Ok getting tired so will write more when I have more energy again. > > > >

Guest guest
Oh, duh! (slapping myself on the forehead) I'm sorry I forgot that. I still think your mother should keep her opinions to herself. And if she said it loud enough for you to hear, you KNOW that could very well have heard her, too. Hope you're feeling better today. Take care. Keep us posted.............Doreen (Just call me Duh-Dodo)*lol* > > dustin is my boyfriend, he has no sight
