My 3rd back surgery which they repaired the dura, removed those 2 levels and then added 2 more took 12 hours. In both cases my Wife was freaking out because I was under longer than they expected. The 2nd one took 12 hours because they had a very hard time removing the previous hardware. A friend of ours worked for the company that supplied the donor bone and the hardware. He was in on all of the surgery. He said my previous fusion was very complete after thirteen years, making it so hard to remove the old hardware. I have it as a keepsake. He said I would really cringe if I saw a video of them removing it. They use a surgically speced and sterile battery powered drill, just like Home Depot only $1000's more and a hammer and chisel. No wonder I was so sore the next week. Also my Neurosurgeon had a pinched nerve in his neck at the time. I can't imagine standing and being bent over, actually holding someone's spine in my hand for 12 hours with a pinched nerve. Later that year his Father also a Neurosurgeon fixed his pinch. Guest guest
I am on Remicade and have had multiple surgeries while using this drug. I was not off of it that long. However I am sure it all depends on the doctors treating you. I receive Remicade every four weeks. I did have an very serious infection at one time. To the best of my knowledge it had nothing to do with being on Remicade. I went through 6 major surgeries in 10 day months on my right ankle and there would have been a very high risk to anyone going through this. I hope this helps you and good luck.  S. Carrington

Guest guest
Hi, Im 7 weeks out of a lumbar spinal fusion (L5-S1). I had lost function in my legs and am strengthening my legs daily through walking. I also have bad anxiety about the walking as I have had setbacks that take me back to the beginning in distance of walks. So now all I can think of is am I walking too much or how far do I walk. It is very paralyzing. Now they have me on Xanax every 8 hours. I have a hard time sleeping with my heart racing and my mind all over the place. Its overwhelming. Guest guest
:  I was supposed to have spinal fusion surgery. I did not have it because my husband got laid off from his job and we lost the health insurance. When I thought I was supposed to have the surgery, I was very anxious and scared. I had never had surgery before or even stayed in the hospital overnight. When I found out that I was not having surgery, the feelings went away. Maybe that is all it is.  Dawn Dawn E. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Kris > > > > > > > > > > > neck pain ; spinal problems > > > > > > From: ljorichardson0912@... > > > > > > Date: Wed, 18 Mar 2009 12:17:07 -0400 > > > > > > Subject: Surgery > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I am 5 weeks out from having anterior cervical fusion surgery. I go back to the surgeon March 30th for follow-up. I am able to work from home now. Just curious if anyone else have had these feelings. > > > > > > > > > > > > Thank you > > > > > > > > > > > > _________________________________________________________________ > > > > > > Windows Liveâ„¢: Life without walls. > > > > > > http://windowslive.com/explore?ocid=TXT_TAGLM_WL_allup_1a_explore_032009 > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Very difficult to eat. I cant eat breakfast barely any lunch and I seem to be able to eat dinner. Don't know why. I think being stuck here during the day with everyone else working is a big part. I feel so left out of life right now. > spinal problems > From: ljorichardson0912@... > Date: Wed, 18 Mar 2009 13:38:46 -0400 > Subject: RE: Surgery > > > I am also having a hard time eating. Guest guest
I am working from home since I can do everything by computer and I go back to the surgeon on the 30th. Some days I feel good and think I should be able to do a lot and then I pay for it the next day.. It is so frustrating and when people look at you and think you should be back to work because oh you look good, make me so mad because they have no idea what it is like to have spine problems. > spinal problems > From: kleejensen@... > Date: Wed, 18 Mar 2009 12:14:34 -0700 > Subject: RE: Surgery > > > Doctor has written me out through June and since I teach that's through the summer. Guest guest
You feel hot and then cold back and forth? Could be a yin deficiency with yang rising. Could be vital qi fighting an external pathogen. Surgery > > > > > > I am 5 weeks out from having anterior cervical fusion surgery. I had c > > 6-7 fused and 6 years ago 4-5.
